Warp Records

Sheffield's Warp Records was formed in the late '80s in the wake of England's acid-house summer of love. Initial releases from LFO, Nightmares On Wax, and Tuff Little Unit made all the right headlines and placed Warp in the top tier of U.K. electronic labels. In the mid-'90s, Warp began to focus on the expermiental fare of Aphex Twin, Autechre, and Plaid, and have since signed U.S. alternative hip hop collective Anti-Pop Consortium, talented folk-electronic producers Boards Of Canada, multi-talented actor/director/producer Vincent Gallo, and drill 'n' bass pioneer Squarepusher. Plaid
Plaid's folksy electronic music fuses elements of Detroit techno, acid house, and so-called IDM. Since forming in '88, the duo has inspired a generation of bedroom producers with their groundbreaking releases on Black Dog Productions, R&S, and Warp.
