Warp Records

Sheffield's Warp Records was formed in the late '80s in the wake of England's acid-house summer of love. Initial releases from LFO, Nightmares On Wax, and Tuff Little Unit made all the right headlines and placed Warp in the top tier of U.K. electronic labels. In the mid-'90s, Warp began to focus on the experimental fare of Aphex Twin, Autechre, and Plaid, and have since signed U.S. alternative hip hop collective Anti-Pop Consortium, talented folk-electronic producers Boards Of Canada, multi-talented actor/director/producer Vincent Gallo, and drill 'n' bass pioneer Squarepusher. Maintaining a broad experimental scope, Warp has added contemporary prog-rockers Battles and neo-psychedlic act Grizzly Bear to the always eclectic Warp roster.
