Quarterstick Records
Quarterstick (1/4 stick -- like dynamite) is a sort of sister label to Touch and Go, started in the late '80s by T 'n' G founder Corey Rusk. Its musical offerings tend to be somewhat sonically tamer than those of Touch and Go, but are no less innovative and independent.
Calexico
Joey Burns and John Convertino, both of Giant Sand and Friends of Dean Martinez fame, know their way around an arid landscape of two. As Calexico, the duo (with occasional assistance from friends) has released three sun-drenched albums of twang-kissed mostly instrumental music.

Mekons
From angular anarchic post-punk to lonesome countrified rambling to disco-driven synth pop, the Mekons have made a lot of different kinds of music very well. No matter what genre or style they're working in, their songs are touched by a loose, carefree warmth and acute, poignant lyricism that are undeniably Mekons.
