Johann's Face Records

Started in 1981 by two men you only need to know as Marc and Gar, Johann's Face redefined midwestern punk rock by releasing a series of huge selling records. Johann's Face scoffing at big money offers, Marc and Gar held steadfast with their ideals and ideas for the future turning down bands such as the Lemonheads, Smashmouth, and a secret double-LP by a little group by the name of Sonic Youth. Johann's Face continues to deliver in your face and melodic punk rock.

The Alkaline Trio
Check this selection from Alkaline on the Johann's Face Compilation "Mike's a Dick and Gar's a Drunk". Dancing on the edge of a busy street with someone you don't really know. Tasting something you've never tasted before. That funny feeling when you wake up in the middle of a deep dream. The inspiration of meeting a stranger in a crowd and knowing that they're as frustrated as you. This trio captures a lot of emotion in a four and a half minute song...

The Smoking Popes
Someone smashed the hearts of each of the folks in the Popes. With an almost chipper disposition for heartbreak, The Smoking Popes deliver power pop punk with a set of not so chipper lyrics.

Get Fired - 1996
