IMIX Records
Portland, Oregon-based IMIX Records was founded by Matt Rock and Rico Bejar in '97. The label focuses on deep, ethereal house and ambient tinged downtempo. IMIX boasts an artist roster that includes veteran producers like DJ Spun, ETI, and Single Cell Orchestra, as well as up-and-coming producers such as Alpha Children, Bent Halos, and 33.3. IMIX Records adds yet another feather to the expanding West Coast cap.
Alpha Children
Alpha Children spread smooth treacle-like chords over lightly toasted beats and warm waves of bass. Go one step beyond Alexi Delano, Rhythm Plate, and Kimbu Kimra, and there you will find Alpha Children.
Bent Halos
Deep house a la San Francisco. Longtime producer and O.O.B.E. label boss Astral Matrix teams with free party DJ and veteran scenester DJ Galen to provide two sultry late night gems.
Single Cell Orchestra
Together with Freaky Chakra and the Hardkiss brothers, Single Cell Orchestra was instrumental in shaping the San Francisco dance music scene. From his older rave productions to his modern futuristic downtempo, Single Cell Orchestra sounds as good live as he does on wax.
