Grayhound Records

Grayhound Recordings was launched in '98 by Wicked Sound System co-founder DJ Garth to represent the dub-heavy dance of San Francisco. All of the Wicked crew (Garth, Jeno, Markie, and Thomas) have committed tracks to the label, and the roster also takes in top West Coast producers DJ Rasoul, Eric James, Doc Martin, Dano, Joeski, and Tony Hewitt. Looking ahead, the label has forged alliances with forward-thinking Philadelphia producers The Wamdue Kids, Pete Moss, and Rob Paine, and there will be more guises, disguises, and surprises down the road.

Audio Soul Project
Audio Soul Project (Mazi) is a rising house producer who bridges the gap between quirky Chicago funk and loose San Francisco soul. His initial releases for Afterhours and Gourmet prompted Brique Rouge and Grayhound to license his work.

Crosstown Traffic
Crosstown Traffic is a collboration between Grayhound's Garth and fellow Bay Area resident Rob Doten. Their tough dubby house prompted Tony Humphries and Gilles Peterson to form a toe-tapping duo.

Dano and Joeski
Red Melon label boss Dano gets behind the production desk with Chocolate Factory resident Joeski for some tech-house of the highest order. Their infectious blend of deep beats and swirling rhythms will appeal to lovers of Low Pressings, Creative Funk, and 20:20 Vision.

Doktor Know
Doktor Know is a collaboration between L.A. super DJ Doc Martin and Bay Area house heroes Dano and Tony Hewitt. Their dark acid-house should come with a government health warning.

E.B.E.
E.B.E. has been creating his original brand of driving tech-house since the mid-late '90s. Rather than relying on formulaic or played-out samples, he crafts unique sounds that are deep and funky while retaining an edge of roughness.

Global Underground: Athens (Disc 2)

DJ Garth and E.T.I.
The deep-disco-dub-house sound of San Fran's Garth and fellow West Coast playa Eric James is deliciously funky and devilishly dark in equal measures.

The Mirror Boys
The Mirror Boys is in fact just one boy, Wicked Sound System's DJ Thomas, to be precise. His dubby, retro house renditions sum up the sound of late night San Francisco.

Rob Paine
Rob Paine produces music for the mind as much as he does for the feet. You could just as easily sit down and chill out to these sounds as you could stand up and let your legs do their work. Deep, well-produced and extremely funky house music.

DJ Rasoul
DJ Rasoul is legendary in his hometown of San Francisco. He helped kickstart the house scene in the Bay Area in the early '90s as an integral member of the 3rd Floor Productions crew. His sultry, late-night, deep house has since been licensed to over twenty labels including Naked Music, Zebra, Panhandle, and Grayhound.

Rocket
Rocket is DJ Garth and Eric James, and they make some of the best deep, dubby disco house this side of the pond. Their style has taken the underground club world by storm and put San Francisco on the international house music map.
