Gern Blandsten Records
From its New Jersey HQ across the river from the Big Apple, Gern Blansten has long been a staple in the indie community, focusing efforts on small batches of releases that range from hip hop to punk rock. Gern Blansten helped pioneer the early emo-punk underground with releases from the likes of Merel and Native Nod. The label is run by onetime Rorshach frontman and current Computer Cougar shamen Charles Maggio.
1.6 Band
Fugazi-like vocals span across artillery time changes as 1.6 Band deconstruct each of their songs. Drum-driven and guitar-molded sections create a soundscape worthy of the post-traumatic stress disorder that they usually inflict upon their audience.

Dalek
Dalek is an anomaly...rap rock or something not yet defined. An angry tempest of hip-hop rhythms, ambient noise, destructive vocals, and almost random samples creates a surreal setting for an original style.

The Impossible Five
These kids are espionage on vinyl. Think 007 from Chicago -- all the style of a slick well-armed guy in a tux standing in the midst of a bunch of sweating screaming indie punks.

The Lapse
The Lapse are an indie trio with a touch of trip hop sensibilities, using Blonde Redhead's alluring vocal style in their downtempo pop lullabies.

The Yah Mos
Before !!!, before Out Hud, there were the Yah Mos, a cheerfully schizophrenic Sacramento punk outfit who staged some of the most enjoyable musical car accidents you'd ever want to hear.
