City of Tribes
Founded in '92 by vocalist Patti Clemens (D'Cuckoo/Ring), City Of Tribes celebrates both world and ambient movements in popular music. Conceived as a label to support the adventurous music being made in a number of genres -- world, ethno-ambient, 4th world, new age, celtic, trip-hop, and folk -- its realization has in fact engendered a hybrid atmosphere that allows musicians to blur the traditional and perceived boundaries of their various styles. Lights in a Fat City, Trance Mission, Lumin, and Beasts Of Paradise are the main players on this pioneering San Francisco-based label.
