Breakbeat Science
Breakbeat Science -- the first drum and bass only record store in North America -- opened its doors to the public in the summer of '96. Based in Manhattan's hip and trendy East Village, the store is the brainchild of DJ DB, DJ Dara, Paul Morris, and Sean 'Shooter'. Its immediate success led to the launch of both the Breakbeat Science website (with its infamous cyber lounge) and their own self-named imprint, Breakbeat Science Recordings, which has become one of the most successful drum and bass labels in North America. Hard-hitting releases from the likes of Dune, DJ Dara, and the up-and-coming Pieter K are complimented with remixes from U.K.-based artists such as Klute, Decoder, Stakka, and FutureCut. More recently, a sister-label Orgone Recordings has been set up to showcase the talents of lesser known American artists such as JL. The future of drum and bass is dark -- the future of drum and bass is Breakbeat Science.
DJ Dara
Irish-born drum and bass guru DJ Dara was instrumental in setting up and maintaining the scene in the U.S. He has played every major club, he is co-owner of the New York-based record emporium-cum-label Breakbeat Science, and he has since turned his hand to production, with successful releases on Sm:)e and Moonshine.
Dune
Aaron Siegner and Oliver Sasse not only run Dune Recordings, but they also produce as Dune and DJ together as Double A & Twist. Hailing from Montreal, they are widely perceived as the Canada's drum and bass ambassadors. This is dance floor-friendly drum and bass at its very best.

Pieter K
Pieter K is taking U.S. drum and bass production to the next level with his tight programming techniques. Vortex was the first label to pick up on his complex tech-step compositions; New York's Breakbeat Science and San Francisco's Thermal were swift to follow suit.
