Uncle Jesse's Baseball Updates Continue...

Watching the last game of the World Series, watching the invincible Mariano Rivera give up those ninth-inning hits, brought some real joy into my life, which has been so devoid of it in recent weeks. More than anything else, I felt happy for poor Byung-Yun Kim, who after giving up the two-out game-tying homer in Game 5 for the second straight night, truly looked like the saddest man on the planet. How amazing is it that this WS, in which the Yankees had those two incredible come-from-behind victories in Games 4 and 5, should be the one they finally lost?

In other news...killing off two teams as the solution to the game's labor woes? These people must be smoking crack. I want to love baseball, but the powers that be make it so damn hard.

And, in non-baseball related news...

Have you seen the preview for the Lord of the Rings movie yet? It looks like the greatest movie ever made (at least of the action-fantasy variety)! I know I'll end up being disappointed, but I sure am excited now.
