NATO's weekend in Chicago was a cue to the residents to get out of Dodge. Between the reports of minor clashes with police, the general consensus among the Chicagoans that I know was "Shit, they should close downtown everyday. I get to work from home!"
Memorial weekend, however, was blistering. Chicago's heat tends to be sludgy, slimy, and thick enough to cut through. And something about the heat certainly brings out the crazies. It's funny how we associate general spookiness with October and the fall. There may not be as much darkness in the summer, but there's definitely no shortage on insanity to go around.
