Zoe Magik
W is a very enigmatic, Merlin-like figure on the San Francisco electronic music scene: moving and working in mysterious ways, not necessarily elusive, little seen but often heard, eminently wise, and consistently relevant. He has been spinning house, downtempo, and drum and bass throughout North America and Europe for more than a decade, and he has a flair for throwing classic timeless cuts of bygone eras into the mix to much audience adulation. He also has written articles detailing the evolution of club culture and music -- often drawing from his own personal experiences -- for magazines like URB.
By now, some of you will no doubt recognize this man as Wish FM (nee Wade Randolph Hampton), mentor and ally to DJs everywhere, producer of several solid albums of material spanning the entire electronica field, the copper-headed stepson of the groove himself. These tracks are selected from both redheadedstepchild and the stepheadedredchild remix sessions. W has enlisted a smorgasbord of talent for the projects: The Broun Fellinis' Black Edgar Kenyatta and Professor Boris Karnaz, organ-grinder and DJ extraordinaire Jon Williams, Ras Jah Earl, DJ Abstract and Jason Mouse of the Phunckateck clan, among others.
