Have you ever wondered what math-loving computer programmers get up to in their spare time? If so, Philadelphia-based electronics genius Duane Broadnax is here to put your mind at rest. By day, Broadnax is a software developer, back-end web designer, and professional hacker. By night, he is hard at work in his studio producing complex beat sequences and playful electronic melodies for release on the revered Fuzzy Box imprint. Although Broadnax cites Black Dog as one of his primary influences, his production is more reminiscent of early Aphex Twin and Autechre releases.
"Walnuts", with its warm dubby basslines, sublimely echoed kicks, subtle complex beat programming, and playful rhythms will go down well with Dot, Clear, and Kitty-Yo enthusiasts.
