The High Llamas
V2 Records
This file is in Liquid Audio format, so you'll need to download the Liquid Player to hear it.
Loose, gentle, and upbeat, the High Llamas offer forth simple and unpretentious sensibility. Recorded in late 1998 and the first quarter of 1999 at The Drugstore in South London (Jesus & Mary Chain's studio) and Electrical Audio in Chicago (Steve Albini's studio), the sessions saw the High Llamas working with a number of guests, principally Mary and Laetitia of Stereolab fame. The relationship between Stereolab and the High Llamas has always been close. In addition to tours with Stereolab, Sean O'Hagan has also played with Stereolab and recorded with Tim Gane under the name Turn On.
On 'Snowbug', Mary and Laetitia's sweet, European tones perfectly compliment the often-Gallic deftness of touch in the arrangements. Riddled with notoriety, the Llamas enlisted John McEntire (Tortoise) and Jim O'Rourke to engineer the album.
