The Budwrestlers
BPM Records
The Bud Wrestlers comprises multi-instrumentalist Ismael Clermont, DJ and producer EFX, and vocalist 80. In '91, the pioneering Clermont founded BPM Records, San Francisco's first dance-only record shop. His influences are rooted in dancehall, as evidenced by his weekly residency at Nicky's BBQ in the Lower Haight. Then there's 80. Although she prefers to remain anonymous, her deep Ella Fitzgerald-esque voice conveys her character sufficiently. DJ EFX, whose production credits span labels such as N-Fushion, Pound, Strictly Rhythm, and Underground Construction, ties it all together with a tight dance floor ethic.
