This Canadian trio is every bit as punk rock as you'd expect a band made up of former members of The Exploited and Filth to be. Maybe even more so. Tension's furious, chugging guitar and bass, machine-gun rhythms coupled with barked, yelping lyrics about revolution and inner revolt claw through your speakers like a wrathful beast. It's full-throttle late '70s/early '80s U.K. style punk like Chaos UK and G.B.H., with just a little bit more of a nasty metal edge. "Civil War," from their second full-length, War Cry, is a nihilistic fight song driven by pure scorn and disgust. Tension is appropriately named: they're full of violent anger, nightmarish paranoia, and brutal self-destruction. Tension provides nothing less than a punk rock exorcism.
