Sutekh
Drop Beat
For the last three years, DJ Sutekh (aka Seth Horvitz) has been lurking beneath the corrugated roofs of the renovated factories of Oakland, toying with his machines. The results first appeared on vinyl in early 1997 when he teamed up with Belief Systems label founder Darin Marshall for the well-received Swivel EP. His unique style of hard-hitting (yet deep and experimental) minimal techno won him immediate fans, both as a producer and as a DJ.
Sutekh was a resident DJ at two weekly events in San Francisco, Static and Sabotage, spinning alongside the likes of Neil Landstrumm, Tobias Schmidt, DJ T-1000, Freaky Chakra, and many others. Sutekh's tracks are varied and show great attention to production detail. They are crisp and tense, but still rock with the full-on techno funk. Fans of such labels as Kanzleramt, Gadget, I-220, Tresor, and Blueprint will definitely groove to this sound.
