Slackjaw has been Portland Oregon's well-kept secret for too long now. It is time to spread the word about these four, and the sensitive and mysterious pop that they have unraveled. Slackjaw can quickly mesmerize the listener with their moody vocals and their spacey dynamic arrangements. There is a sense of melancholy and writing intelligence, as these beautifully detailed songs sound perfect in the car when you are driving full throttle straight at a cliff. Members of Radiohead or Remy Zero could have easily been involved in the recording of Buoyancy vs. Gravity and of course that is a good thing because like Slackjaw, these are bands doing creative things in a struggling art-form, rock music.
