Sahara Hotnights
Jetset Records

An all-girl punk rock quartet from Umea, Sweden, Sahara Hotnights have been rocking since the band members were teens. The four girls started the band to combat teenage boredom armed with a collection of records by Blondie, The Clash, and The Ramones. The Sahara Hotnights sound has since evolved into an edgy yet catchy girl-punk style that is considerably tougher than the group's U.S. counterparts The Donnas. There's definitely a style and snarl reminiscent of the legendary Joan Jett and her band The Runaways. Sahara Hotnights' look, attitude, and classic punk harmonies and melodies pay homage, but rock a newfound glory that ties in smartly catchy tunes with every track. Their first album C'mon Let's Pretend in 1999 on BMG UK won the group two Swedish Grammys and spread the word of Hotnights throughout Europe. They issued their second album Jennie Bomb in Europe with much success in 2001 and began to get attention in the States too. Jetset Records released the album in 2002 in the middle of a raw rock 'n' roll resurgence, the perfect time for an album as gritty but approachable as Jennie Bomb.
