As Rithma, Etienne Stehelin, a Topanga Canyon, Los Angeles-based technical wizard, has been producing his own unique brand of intelligent club-house since the late '90s. With a strong background in jazz guitar and a passion for music in general, Stehelin was easily seduced by L.A.'s mid-'90s rave scene. Shortly thereafter, together with Scott Findley, he began producing trance under the guise of Robot Factory. Thankfully, this didn't last long. After developing a penchant for all matters tech and house, Rithma was born, and the rest is history. To date, Stehelin has released his sweet tech-house sounds on labels such as Tweekin',
Terraform Records, Lapdance and Fiji (two UCMG labels), and most recently, San Francisco's ubiquitous Om Records.
Kaskade's "Let's Make Out" remix of "Builder" (as featured on Om Lounge 5) blends slow-burning beats with sultry female vocals and low-slung bass. Smooth is an understatement.
