Regulatorwatts was indeed a brief, yet bright spark in Washington DC's history of emotionally fueled rock bands. Circa 1995, the band picked up where guitarist/vocalist Alex Dunham's previous band,
Hoover left off. Though it is hard to directly describe the band's sound, these influences are sure to be heard. There is something pointedly dark and perhaps even creepy about many of their songs. If Regulatorwatts had a writing philosophy, it would be music first, vocals later. Though the lyrics are important, they never supersede the mood and impact of the music itself, but emerge naturally from the feel of the song. If anything, Regulatorwatts was an intelligent rock band that emphasized a dark twist.
