Angie Mead and Stephen Howard were merely acquaintances in 2009. Mead was making the local music rounds in Chicago as both a publicist and a musician for years, and had closely followed Howard's previous band, famed indie trio Pinebender. Mead knew that Howard was the drummer she needed to play with. The two met, shared their love of the blues, and started recording less than a year later.
