Protolab is the joint efforts of Gustavo Lanzas, Jonnie Gillham, and Rob Johnson. Veteran producers of the San Francisco underground dance community, they contribute a diverse and potent mix of elements to the unique drum and bass sound of Protolab. Electro, house, dub, and techno influences are dissected, mutated, and reassembled into a nonstop mix of shifting
drum beats, drifting melodic synth lines, and deep bass lines. The composition, instrumentation, and direction of every track is constantly manicured and massaged during their performances allowing maximum
expression and communication with the dance floor. What you end up with is the energy of a DJ spinning a killer set combined with the inspiration of the electronic producer.
