Pines of Nowhere
Slowdime Records
Pines of Nowhere wants to bring the attitude back to the underground, mixing eighties Eurotrash punk with postpunk and early Touch and Go rock. You'll catch elements of Gang of Four, The Jesus Lizard, and Drive Like Jehu in their sound, and if you're not careful, you'll catch those elements right in the lip -- you'd better check for blood.
If you feel like name-dropping, Sebastian Thomson, the drummer for Trans Am, plays bass in the band. But instead of getting all hung up on who's in what band, just let the music stand on its own. Downloading this is mandatory: Pines of Nowhere is so hardcore that they even went to visit onetime AC/DC frontman Bon Scott's grave in Australia...Jeez.
