This is the classic Chicago punk rock band No Empathy, led by the owner of Johann's Face Records, Mark Ruvulo. No Empathy takes the sound of straightforward punk rock and twists it together with a ton of tragedy. You might be coaxed into slamming in the pit before you have any notion of the issues involved with the songs, but you had better listen up.
Cries of loneliness, alcoholism, politics and exclusion make No Empathy much more complex than they appear at first listen. The five band members take all of their anger and vent it so well, you will be swept away in their emotion. Forget about the corruption of the government: be happy that you spent your last five dollars on a six-pack of beer.
