Under many guises, Matthew B. (aka Bushwacka! and Mr. B. Wacka) has been at the forefront of London's future music movement since the very beginning. His formative years were spent behind the wheels of steel with legendary DJ collective Ratpack and on the water (where no one will ever know) with London's seminal pirate radio station Sunrise FM. When the rave moved indoors, Bushwacka! gave up the DJ booth for the studio and began developing his own dance floor-driven brand of tech-house and breakbeat. Labels such as Plink Plonk, Sound as a Pound, Plank, End Recordings, and Kickin' were swift to take the bait.
Bushwacka! is now in the employ of Mr. C at the Watershed studios, where he has engineered for Derrick Carter, Eddie "Flashin" Fowlkes, DJ Sneak, Stacey Pullen, Shamen, and Alex Reece. More recently, Bushwacka! teamed up with The End co-owner Layo Paskin to produce the hugely successful full-length, Low Life, released on End Recordings. "Traffic Jam" and "Bustop," produced for the Kingsize sub-label, Humboldt County, are vintage Bushwacka!, replete with downright dirty breaks, textured synths, and driving chords.
