Tim Land grew up in Charlton, just East of Greenwich, London. A drummer by trade, Land spent his formative years twisting sticks for various West London abstract acoustic groups. In the right place at the right time, Land, ummm, landed a job behind the mixing desk at the Hospital Records studios in '97. His unique musical approach was immediately spotted by the clever chaps at Hospital, who duly supplied him with the necessary equipment for a home studio and signed him, as Landslide, to their burgeoning label.

Fusing batucada breaks with Rio percussion in a drum and bass ethic, his first single ("Buddah/Drum & Bossa") caught the ears of tastemakers as varied as Fabio, Aquasky, Gilles Peterson, and Truby Trio. Realizing he had hit upon something, Land swiftly followed up with a debut album, also entitled Drum & Bossa. Taking the fusion one step further, Drum & Bossa's 12 tracks range from quirky organic 2-step ("Incurable Voices"), futuristic breakbeat ("Subtraction"), new school batucada ("Tumbling"), and dark Ninja-deep downtempo ("It's Inside"), all of it extremely dope. Karime Kendra (Sirkus/Scenario), Victor Davies (People), and London Elektricity all lend helping hands on this highly versatile and extremely infectious album.
