Planned Penetration, on the Waveform label, is the genius of thirty-three year old Japanese trumpet player and electronic manipulator Kozo Ikeno. Ikeno composed and performed and recorded the album by himself at his Denki-Rappa studio in Yokohama. The music is experimental, mellow, and often melancholic -- a murky fusion of jazz and electronic.
Imagine yourself comfortably settled in a smoke-filled Manhattan jazz club closing your eyes and wondering if this is what Miles would be performing if he were still around. Kozo picks up where Miles left off. "Chickin" is finger-lickin' fun for lovers of Ninja Tune, Sonar Kollectiv, and G-Stone.
