Fog City Players (Jay J and Marques Wyatt)

DJ and production duo Fog City Players are better known as Marques Wyatt and Jay J Hernandez (aka Jay J). Wyatt, a Los Angeles native, has been immersed in the club scene since the early '80s. In addition to DJing and producing, he is one of L.A.'s most respected club promoters. In the mid-'80s, Wyatt opened a club he dubbed The BBC to introduce L.A. clubgoers to the garage house sound that had taken over the club scene in New York and Chicago. In '88 he opened Mac's Garage, L.A.'s first club to showcase live house performances from the likes of Adeva, Jomanda, CeCe Rogers, and Liz Torres. Now respected throughout the world for his abilities as a deep house DJ, Wyatt has made the natural step into production. Since his first release in '97, he has produced and remixed for labels such as Strictly Rhythm, King Street, Suburban, Yoshitoshi, Nervous, and Tilted.

Jay J Hernandez is primarily a producer, though he does DJ out of his hometown San Francisco on a regular basis. He's gaining a well-deserved reputation for creating and engineering tracks that fuse the raw garage sound of New York with the deep house ethic of San Francisco. Hernandez runs the infamous Moulton Studios with Chris Lum, and together they co produce as 2 Utes. He has worked with the likes of Rick Preston (Glasgow Underground), Miguel Migs (Naked Music), Jellybear (Tilted), among others. "Remember," produced by the Fog City Players for Brent Laurence's highly regarded Seattle-based Tilted imprint, is by far their best work to date. This is the sort of quality production you would expect from 20:20 Vision, Under The Counter, or Influence.
