Essa 3's "Evolve" is mid-'90s trance/techno, which laid the early grooves for what has become one of the most popular forms of dance music today: trance and progressive house. The "Around the World" sample was a precursor to Daft Punk's massive track by the same title. Listen to the pulsating keyboard lines punctuated by a wicked breakdown. Then the track flips on its head and goes into an even more twisted breakbeat rhythm that will make the sun set on any discoteque. "Revolve" is a slower groove with major tech house appeal. Moody keys and techy sounds punctuate throughout...this simultaneously haunting and weird track could serve as the theme song to the next Aliens sequel.
