[E]Motion Detectors
Worship Recordings
Chris Udoh has been one of Philadelphia's most prolific producers since forming the Wamdue Kids collective with Chris Brann and Deep C in the early '90s. His career behind the wheels of steel has been equally as fruitful, with regular gigs across both the U.S. and Western Europe. Since parting company with Wamdue, Udoh has gone on to build a credible catalog of releases both under his own name and with Worship Recordings label manager Rob Paine as Kidz On Christian St.. June Lopez is a relative newcomer to the house production scene, coming to fame with a remix of Divine Conception's deep house ballad "Just You and Me."
Udoh and Lopez debut as the [E]Motion Detectors with the undeniably funky "Steps." Muted, big-sound-system beats create the space for swirling Grayhound-esque chords, and '70s guitar licks. This is the sort of track that would pull even the most bar-hung clubber from the clutches of their whiskey sour and onto the dance floor. As the title suggest, "Deep Steps" is aimed at the late-night jock, while "Cuba Rica" fuses batucada with bass-heavy house for the happy-go-lucky DJ.
