DJ Mel Hammond
Afterhours

In his two decades of DJing and one decade of producing, DJ Mel Hammond has built a solid following for his distinctive brand of techno-house. Hammond was one of the first jocks to grace the decks at Chi-Town's infamous Shelter, and has since secured two resident nights at Mad Bar, one at Lava Lounge, and another at Black No.5. In addition, successful gigs for La Plage Records in Paris have opened up a new world of opportunity in Europe.

Hammond is equally as prolific behind the mixing desk. He has released a number of singles for UC offshoot Afterhours, under his real name and as Bocasonic. He has recently completed two projects for the brand new Music 101 label, working alongside Playin' For The City and Carla Prather of Poi Dog Pondering. "Impetus" is taken from the Impetus & Intention EP, and is also featured on the full-length compilation Sessions Vol.2, both on Afterhours. Its hypnotic winding rhythms, tough tech synths, and distorted disco licks will have you running to the dance floor like the mad bastards you are.
