Dianogah
Ohio Gold Records
Dianogah is a band from Chicago, Illinois. After graduating from college, Jason Harvey and Jay Ryan (who both play bass) wandered aimlessly until getting together with drummer Kip McCabe in January of 1995. With plenty of blind optimism, they were soon up and running, playing songs that let the two basses weave colorful upbeat tapestries into the picky, intricate drumming, which was allowed to assume a prominent position in the arrangements. In December '95 and March '96, Dianogah released their first two singles 100% Tree and Garden Airplane Trap, which were both re-issued together on a 4 song CD in July 96. At this time the hit "What is Your Landmass?" appeared on the Ground Rule Double compilation (Divot/Actionboy) with Shellac, C-Clamp, Braid, Lustre King, and many other Chicago bands. Dianogah has continued to grow and develop as a band, touring throughout the midwest and east coast, resultIng in surprisingly similar haircuts and identical t-shirt wardrobes. 1997 saw the release of Dianogah's first full-length As Seen From Above, recorded by Steve Albini, whose haircut seems to be developing into a style that can only be referred to as "Dianogah- like."
