Damon Che is perhaps the most dazzling member of a dazzling group whose instrumental prowess is without question second to none. That group, of course, is the astonishing Don Caballero, for which Che has drummed since the early '90s, setting a horrifying, breakneck pace for the band's prog- and avant-garde jazz-derived instrumental math rock wanderings. That this man has only two arms seems to fly in the face of the basic laws of physics and the understood limits of human ability. Don Cab wouldn't be half the astounding force it is without Che's fluid understanding of rhythm and ability to execute that understanding. "Oh Suzanna" appears on Monitor Records' Membraphonics compilation, a three-years-in-the-making collection of solo tracks recorded by some of rock's most innovative drummers.
