Camden
Snapping Turtle Records
Camden got started in earnest in July 1998 when four fellows from Milwaukee who'd been playing music together in various incarnations for the previous six years decided that they were in fact a band, and should pick a name, record a demo, and start touring. So far they've met nothing but success. For good reason. They play a compelling breed of indie, characterized by dense, swampy guitars and sincere male vocals that come soaring up out of the instrumental soup. Singer William Seidel's introspective lyrics are wonderfully elliptical and paradoxical, twisting and turning on themselves and always arriving back where they began. The music works the same way. It's no matter. This band isn't interested in discoveries or destinations, only in the process of looking.
