Brendon Canty and Jerry Busher

Brendon Canty is one of the busiest drummers in rock and he's got one of the most impressive resumes. After laying down rhythms for the seminal but short-lived Rites of Spring, Canty, along with more celebrated band mate Guy Picciotto, would join Ian MacKaye to form rock's most important political hardcore band, Fugazi, for which Canty has worked since 1988. Canty was also a founding member of the swaggering power-rock ensemble Girls Against Boys, though he exited shortly after the group's inception. He plays guitar for the all-star D.C. punk sextet All-Scars. He has also collaborated with Lois Maffeo and numerous other independent artists.

Jerry Busher is also a longtime drummer who has played with Fidelity Jones and All-Scars. He's also the mysterious fifth member of Fugazi -- already their longtime roadie and photographer, he began performing live with the band in the late '90s, playing a second set of drums and occasionally trumpet.

???? The two drummers team up on "Semi-Detached," from Monitor's drum compilation, Membranaphonics. That diverse collection, put together over a period of three years, showcases the many talents of the more creative drummers in the business. Canty makes his vocal debut on the track, while Busher plays guitar and trumpet in addition to drums.
