Kansas City's Boy's Life was one of the great emo bands of the mid-'90s before they decided that they had reached the end of their journeys in performance and recording. Their records are filled with heart-wrenching whispers and occasional flurries of noisy melodies.
After Boy's Life's demise, two members -- singer/guitarist Brandon Butler and bassist John Rejba --went on to an outstanding if short-lived project called The Farewell Bend on Slowdime Records. After that, Butler founded the folky indie group Canyon, recruiting Boy's Life guitarist Joe Winkle for the new band.
