Alpha & Omega
BSI Records
Though their music sounds as though it was composed on a beach somewhere in the Caribbean, dub duo Alpha & Omega are in fact from very wet, very rainy Plymouth, on the southwest coast of England. Besides running their own successful imprint (aptly named Alpha & Omega), John Sprosen and Christine Woodbridge have been making richly textured, spiritual-sounding dub since 1990. A firm favorite of London's dub general Jah Shaka, Alpha & Omega's roots-based sound is brought bang up to date with modern programming techniques and electronic effects.
The duo has releases under their belt for Zion's Gate, Buback, and R.O.I.R., and has contributed tracks to compilations on Mango Island, Planet Dog, Nubian, and Ocho. They have remixed both Bomb The Bass and Dub Syndicate. "Wounded" and "Is This A Dream" are taken from 2000's Mystical Things, while "Chanting" and "Ruler of Them All" are taken from 2001's Dub Philosophy, both on BSI Records. The latter features guest appearances from The Disciples, Teacha, Dub Judah, and Nishka.
