Alice Despard Group, is fronted, not surprisingly, by one Alice Despard, whose strong, soulful voice is the centerpiece for the trio's jangly folk rock. Despard has been making music since the '80s in such bands as Hyaa! and The Beggars. In the Alice Despard Group, she is joined by Davis White and I See Spots bassist Sean O'Brien. The music is simple and guitar-driven, with occasional touches of feedback and squiggling electronics. It's both fresh-sounding and quaintly nostalgic.
"Blind River" is from the Alice Despard Group's self-titled EP on Arlingtone Records. The band also has a full-length on Arlingtone Records, 1998's Push Me Pull You.
